Dragonbound Returns!

Dragonbound Returns!

Dragonbound units return to Puzzle and Dragons

I remember Dragonbound being one of my earlier posts. I’ll be updating the information on the old page here. I’ve simply added some comments about super awokens. The new units will be here. There are 3 new units joining us this time.

5 Star Pralinae

I can’t be the only one that read her name as Praline, can I? Should have just named her Praline.

Main Dish

She gets double god and double devil, while not as strong in niche killing like Shazel or No.6 she is more flexible. She can also take Dragon killers as one of her latent killers and it’s something to consider. That way she becomes more flexible in slotting in as a sub  in terms of damage output.

Leader Skill:  Healer & Dragon type cards ATK x3. ATK x2, reduce damage taken by 35% after matching Heal orbs in a cross formation.

So this is such a reminder of what Myr was. Without the training wheels and weaker. Myr has no type restriction has 7.7x, and time extend. Not really worth leading since Myr is farmable.

Side Dish

Active Skill:  Change Water orbs to Light orbs, Dark orbs to Heart orbs. All attribute cards RCV x1.5 for 4 turns.  14 Turns ( 9 Turns at Lv.6 )

A nice double orb change great for light focused teams/teams that don’t care much for dark orbs. The RCV bonus is a niche buff, can be handy if you get hit with an extremely long RCV half’d debuff in some dungeons, but overall, the rcv boost isn’t much to  write home about.

Spice

Unskilled it could be a decent inherit, but I think she’s a stronger sub to have for her double god/devil killer and the ability to have dragon killers.

6 Star Distel

SS tier husbando.

Main Dish

Double L Unlock for damage bonus, 2 TE and 3 SB. The only thing that’s missing is a 7c and maybe an SBR for me to really really like it. But overall it’s not a bad set of awokens.

Leader Skill: All attribute cards ATK x4, 25% all damage reduction when reaching 7 combos. ATK x3 when simultaneously clearing 5 connected Water orbs.

Gets a small shield and will have a decent multiplier when you hit all the requirements. Small challenge will be to make the L shape and 7 combo at the same time. Any water orb generating sub should work well on this team. Aife, Andromeda, Seriyuu, etc. should all work fine.

He takes God, Machine, and Healer killers.  God killers are very much used in end game content, and with the new Blonia, having the ability to fit on the team and with God Killers gives him a nice boost in value to that team.

Side Dish

Active Skill: 75% damage reduction for 3 turns. Dragon & Devil type cards ATK x2 for 3 turns. 25 Turns ( 20 Turns at Lv.6 )

Indra + burst rolled into one for 3 turns. The only downside is that it’s 20 turns. I’ve used him on my Blonia team on  JP side and never had  to opportunity to use his skill more than once for any dungeon. He has strong stats and some good L-unlock support. Outside of Blonia there really aren’t many popular teams to run him on at this time.

Spice

For inheriting, he can make a good fake SDR because of his long cooldown. You can also stack him on any shield if you want to make sure you always have a shield and bonus burst if you charge it up.

Wine Pairing

I guess you can pair with Blonia at this time since he’s dragon type, has dark/blue and you can still do the 7c L-unlock thing to get good bonuses.

7 Star Lajoa

The new 7 star Dragonbound looks really cool and has some unique parts.

Main Dish

Dark subtype:

I had originally hoped that the FUA was a mistake and it was FUA2 to make more sense, but it’s not a mistake. Some reason you have a leader that wants lots of connected orbs, and has row awokens, but if you need FUA you have to give up the bonus damage from his own awokens.

Leader Skill: ATK x4 when simultaneously clearing 4 connected Dark orbs. ATK x1 for each additional orb, up to ATK x30 at 30 connected orb. All attribute cards 50% all damage reduction when HP is full.

So bring out the Pandoras and Akechis again for this. Preemptives are going to be your challenge for the Dark type Lajoe, since once you take any hit you lose the shield. You will want to make sure you have the ability to heal in the event of multiple preemptives. The nice thing is that going under any HP threshold does not affect its offensive firepower like it does for Yog.

Red subtype:

Another Dark Void Pierce. If you didn’t farm a Rugal for void pierce when we had him, or if you missed it, if you get lucky on Dragonbound rolls you can get this one. The void  pierce at least has some more synergy with the rows than the FUA since you can do both a Void Pierce and a Row.

Leader Skill: Dragon & Devil type cards HP x2, ATK x5. ATK x1.5 when simultaneously clearing 5 connected Dark orbs. ATK x0.5 for each additional orb, up to ATK x2 at 6 connected orb.

You give up the shield at full HP but you get some restrictions and bonus HP. Compared to Pandora’s leader skill which is really similar, it adds Dragon type to the list, You get some more  HP and you’re still just making lots of rows. Adding Dragon type gives you some extra subs like Sheena, Halloween Sonia, and Typhon. But nothing super game breaking.

Similar to Distel, he can also take God, Healer, and Machine killers. However, His row awokens are not very in the meta right now.

Side Dish

Active Skill:  Change all orbs to Dark & Heart orbs. Recover 40% of max HP. Bind recovery for 4 turns. ( 13 Turns at Lv.6 )

The dark version of Yog’s active. A really strong board change for any dark focused teams. Sadly right now dark rows are not popular as they once were. The new Satan coming out from JP side could help could make use of this unit and active since the heal is not RCV based. For the time being I just don’t see him as a sub on any popular teams.

Spice

The active will be strong for dark focused combo teams, I suspect it would be popular among Anubis users.

Wine Pairing

Necro all the Dark Row Leads! FA luci is coming back, Revo Pandora is coming back! If you want some nostalgia you can totally do it.
