Persona Collab Review!

Persona Collab Review!

Persona Collab Arrived!

I was definitely not expecting this. It does look like Gungho is making an effort to have more content for the NA side. I’ve never played Persona, but I have seen my friends play the Shin Megami Tensei series, so I guess that counts?

There’s nothing in here that I would consider a must have or anything that would shuffle the top tier meta around, but there are some decent units.

Overall I have no desires in this collab, though the art is good. I also don’t really recommend chasing this as many of us on NA side are still hoping for an appearance of the Super Godfest. I also have no idea who these characters are.

6 Star Rolls

Makoto Yuki

Protagonist from Persona 3.

Stats

  • HP: 3940
  • ATK: 2063
  • RCV: 293

Awokens

Another member of the Tachibana baseline family. For those that don’t know, Tachibana’s new Ult here has a set of awokens that is currently defining the meta set of awokens for most subs. Unbindable, SB, SBR, TE. You simply add a few more on top of that to get the rest of the more popular meta units. Makoto falls into that and gains an extra TE and Haste. The haste is super nice as the active is a full board changer that unlocks orbs- more on this later. Balance typing also gives Makoto access to all killers, which improves the damage output.

Leader Skill

All attribute cards ATK x5, 25% all damage reduction when attacking with Fire, Water & Light orb types at the same time. ATK x3, RCV x3 when reaching 6 combos.

6 combos is the minimum for activation, you need 7c to do any real damage. It’s kind of awkward in that you need Fire, Water, and Light. Very few units have this specific board change that doesn’t have many extras. But you’ll probably want closer to full board changes to take advantage of the skill haste.

Some board changers that have the specific board colors for Makoto but aren’t full board changers

Both forms of Tachi work. I’d try to keep in mind that you do need a fire element somewhere on your team to qualify for the full leader skill activation.

I would probably run various board changer subs for him like Ideal and Ragdra. Light Kali can function as a sub since she’ll cover the fire part of the leader skill.

Active

Removes lock status on orbs. Change all orbs to Fire, Water & Wood & Light & Dark & Heart orbs. Inflict Fire nuke damage equal to team Water ATK x50 to all enemies. (13 turns Max)

This is a really strong active. Orb Unlock + full board change into all colors will almost certainly get you out of most bad board situations. The nuke is okay, it probably won’t button through many floors but any damage is damage, and it’s better to do damage than to die with just that one pixel of  HP left on the boss.

Overall

Double 7c with balanced typing and a skill haste that unlocks and board changes. Makoto is a strong sub choice for almost any team. Because the awokens and killer possibilities are so strong, I would be hesitant to use this unit as an inherit.

Ren Amamiya

Protagonist from Persona 5

Stats

  • HP: 3668
  • ATK: 2145
  • RCV: 328

Awokens

I see your Tachibana family tree and add you an FUA type cousin. Like Makoto, Ren joins the Tachibana family tree of current popular meta units. I think Ren’s even more Meta because of the FUA, and the full bind recovery, essentially taking Odindra’s place, but with a FUA on top. Oh, and Balanced typing for all killers.

Leader Skill

All attribute cards ATK x3 when attacking with 3 of following orb types: Fire, Water, Wood, Light & Dark. All attribute cards ATK x5, 25% all damage reduction when attacking with Heart and Heart combos at the same time.

Well, at least you only need 3 color types and heart orbs, so this is much easier to plan for. Ren’s also not restricted in terms of the other 3 colors, and already covers 2 on his own, so using something such as Typhon/Anaphon will get you your third color to focus on and you can load up with other units like Pandora, Uranus, and Nohime to round out the rest of the team. You’ll want to make sure you can get 6 hearts on the board pretty consistently as well to keep up the shield.

Some board changer subs you can use:

Active

Delay 1 turn to all enemies. Full bind recovery.Awoken Bind recovery for 9999 turns. (10 turns Max)

It’s like Odindra, but better with the delay if you need it.

Overall

Again, double 7c with Balanced typing has this unit’s potential damage pretty high. On top of having the Odin dra active and FUA, a good use for a sub.

Elizabeth

She’s in Persona 3, but has a sister in Persona 4.

Stats

  • HP: 3668
  • ATK: 2145
  • RCV: 328

Awokens

Elizabeth is not a member of the Tachibana family. She does have one of the few cloud resist base awokens and has 3 L unlock awokens. It’s still yet to see if L unlock is going to be a thing or not. They are definitely adding more units with L Unlock, but it needs to have some more support for it to be a thing.

Leader Skill

Dark attribute cards HP x1.5, ATK x1.5, RCV x1.5. All attribute cards ATK x3 when reaching 4 combos or above. ATK x2 when simultaneously clearing 5 connected Dark orbs.

A stable leader skill with 2.25x baseline to all dark cards. You only need to 4 combo with an L shape to reach full activation. It’s one of the easier leader skills to activate for some decent damage. Sadly there aren’t many L unlock focused dark subs right now, so I’d probably look for dark board changers with 7c for the time being for filling out her team.

Active

Full HP recovery. Full bind recovery. Ignores enemy attribute damage absorb effects for 1 turn ( does not include combo shield, damage absorb shield, and damage void ).

Another Odindra active, this one has an attribute damage absorb null, great for killing Noah Dragon.

Overall

Situational use for the cloud resist awoken. The active also functions as a Odin dragon with a useful rider.

Yu Narukami

Persona 4 protagonist.

Stats

  • HP: 3845
  • ATK: 1960
  • RCV: 383

Awokens

I haven’t seen anything that needs double VDP to kill. So I’m not entirely sure if it’s necessary to have 2?

Leader Skill

Light attribute cards HP x2, ATK x2. Increases time limit of orb movement by 2 seconds. ATK x5 when simultaneously clearing 6 connected Light orbs.

This is a very easy lead to use, load up on some light orb changers and you’re good to go. you can also consider using rows as a damage boost if you feel inclined, but with the way things are you should just be loading up on 7c subs. I wouldn’t worry too much about his lack of an RCV boost on his leader skill since he has 2 heart orb enhancers to make up for that.

Active

Reduce enemies’ defense to 0 for 1 turn. Effects carry forward on sweep. Randomly spawn 8 Light orbs from non Light orbs. (Max 10 turns)

Full defense break makes it nice for farming, it should also almost always guarantee you can VDP.

Overall

Probably end up as a specific niche use as a VDP sub for more end game teams.

5 Star rolls

None of these are worth leading, therefore we will be skipping looking at their leader skills.

Mitsuru Kirijo

Stats

  • HP: 3295
  • ATK: 1802
  • RCV: 46

Awokens

Active

Delay 1 turn to all enemies. Increase skyfall chance of Heart orbs by 15% for 5 turns. (Max 10 turns)

1 turn delays are always useful to have, the increased heart skyfall chance might be helpful in situations if you need it in no RCV dungeon situations or if you need to counter RCV penalties if you need to heal up.

Overall

Sell extras, keep 1 in case. Devil Killers can be desired in some cases. I’m sure many of those who were doing the Rikuu cup with the Verse team without Shazel would have liked some of these.

Teddie

Stats

  • HP: 4082
  • ATK: 1435
  • RCV: 31

Awokens

Active

25% damage reduction for 9 turns. (Max 11 turns)

This is an active that I like. It’s 9 turns, basically an entire dungeon. Useful if it’s going to be a longer fight if you can’t 1 shot the boss, a slightly weaker version of Tomoe.

Overall

Keep 1 for sure, maybe 2 if you have space, just in case you want to have a shield up at all times.

Yosuke Hanamura

Stats

  • HP: 3293
  • ATK: 1334
  • RCV: 326

Awokens

Active

Wood attribute ATK x3.5 for 1 turn. Removes lock status on orbs.

Overall

A fairly decent burst, with unlock. Yosuke has three TPA which will help him fit into Dagda and Tardis  type teams, which are both wood and TPA focused. Serviceable sub for Wood focused teams because of his active, can also save one for inherits if you need.

Aigis

Stats

  • HP: 3540
  • ATK: 1528
  • RCV: 106

Awokens

Active

Deal 20 damage to 1 enemy for 5 times. Ignore enemy element and defense. Max 8 Turns

Overall

Like Riza Hawkeye from FMA, a good Dmeta Tama killer, can also deal with the annoying ADKZ in Star Justice.

Makoto Niijima

Stats

  • HP: 3540
  • ATK: 1528
  • RCV: 106

Awokens

Active

Inflict Fire damage equal to ATK x80 to 1 enemy. Affected by enemy element and defense. Change Light & Jammer orbs to Fire orbs. Change Dark, Poison & Mortal Poison orbs to Water orbs. (Max 10 turns)

Overall

Serviceable sub for Jhoira teams. Makes both water and fire orbs, has a 7c and can TPA if needed. The attributes are swapped, though for perfect matching. I’d probably sell unless you were wanting to play a Jhoira team.

Goro Akechi

Stats

  • HP: 2887
  • ATK: 1855
  • RCV: 134

Awokens

Active

Deals damage equal to 5% of enemies’ max HP. Change Water orbs to Light orbs (Max 9 turns)

Overall

A low max hp gravity with a single orb change active. Can be useful in specific cases, but I think it’s kind of an undervalued active. 5% of Max HP is not a small number in lots of cases and might just be what you need to push something under a resolve or push past some threshold you need to get through. Definitely Keep 1.
